About Me


Marco Ho was born in Hong Kong. He received the BSc (Hons) in computer engineering from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the MSc and PhD in electronic engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong.

From 2005 to 2008, he was working as a Senior Programmer Analyst for a solution provider in Hong Kong, developing custom applications and infrastructure. He joined CUHK in 2008, where he was engaged in research on radio-frequency identification tag system. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Electronic Engineering from 2013 to 2014, concurrently appointed as Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Information Engineering in 2013. From 2015 to 2016, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering. He is currently a Lecturer of Information Engineering at CUHK, and also an Adjunct Faculty at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK(SZ)), Guangdong, China. His current interests include energy-harvesting circuits and systems, autonomous smart sensor networks, and methodologies in engineering education.

Dr Ho has received teaching awards including two Departmental Best Teacher Awards (Runner-up) from 2016 to 2018, and Outstanding Tutor Awards and Tutor Commendations for four years from 2009 to 2013. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, and has received the Best Paper Awards in 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON) and in 2011 IEEE Student Symposium on Electron Devices and Solid-State Circuits (s-EDSSC). Dr Ho is currently a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has been serving as a technical reviewer for more than 20 journals and international conferences, and was a Session Chair in 2014 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems (APCCAS).
