   This paper presents ADMarker, the first end-to-end system that integrates multi-modal sensors and new federated learning algorithms for detecting multidimensional Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) digital biomarkers in natural living environments. The system is evaluated in a four-week clinical trial involving 91 elderly participants. It allows clinicians to characterize and track the complex correlation between multidimensional interpretable digital biomarkers, demographic factors of patients, and AD diagnosis in a longitudinal manner.

   This paper presents the design and deployment of the first end-to-end smart roadside infrastructure (SRI) specifically designed to support autonomous driving. A total of 18 nodes have been deployed on the existing lampposts of the CUHK campus, which have been operational for over two years. The work offers key insights into the development and deployment of next-generation smart roadside infrastructure and autonomous driving systems.

   Wi-Fi sensing systems use signals from Wi-Fi devices for various applications but rely heavily on channel state information (CSI), which is limited to specific chipsets. The paper presents the first city-scale study that reveals CSI availability is rare in operational devices. It proposes to leverage compressed beamforming reports (CBR), which are widely supported in Wi-Fi devices, to enable ubiquitous sensing.

   This paper presents the first centimeter-level infrastructure-assisted HD mapping system for autonomous vehicles. The invention won a Gold Medal at the 2024 International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. The code was deployed on 20 smart lampposts in Hong Kong for autonomous driving, operational for over three years since 2019.

   This work presents the first hardware NB-IoT diagnostic tool that supports fine-grained fusion of power and protocol traces. The study explores the optimization of NB-IoT base station settings on a software-defined eNodeB testbed, and suggests several important design aspects that can be considered by future NB-IoT specifications and chipsets.

   This paper presents "iSleep" — one of the first smartphone Apps for sleep monitoring, with code transferred to a commercial app with tens of thousands of downloads. It was also the first App that can accurately detect coughing, snoring, and score sleep quality based on built-in microphones of smartphones. Google’s Pixel 7 smartphone, released in 2022, features these sleep monitoring capabilities based on similar principles.
